Guys I have been thinking about this entire dilemma that we face. So most of us have damaged our nervous systems quite severely and begun to recover. However there are a few things that clearly should be avoided for some time (if not forever) after recovery. One thing that has been on my mind is exactly what elements that are part of normal life might trigger us at any time. For example, life is long, things happen, we get sick, sometimes really sick. Sometimes we require chronic medications, or operations. Can we ever go back to tolerating things like anesthetics? For example what happens if you clip your finger in a wood chipper and require stitches, would we be triggered by something as trivial as local anesthetic or tetnis shots? OR if we require an operation for whatever reason, would the anesthetics and meds not trigger us? And is this something that we would have a problem with forever? I for one am going out of the country for 5 days in 2 months time, currently I am in quite a wave, what would happen if I had to take the FIVE different vaccinations (for yellow fever, hepatitis, malaria etc). Would these trigger me and if so would I have to avoid such travel for the rest of my life? Also what if for example you have to have moles removed and require a local anesthetic? Would we have to prepare for a wave each time?.  I wonder if anyone else has thought of these things and/or had experience with large life events after benzo recovery.

I hope you are all doing ok.

Yours sincerely,

Rossho

Excellent questions but I see no answers. Anyone have a major surgical procedure post taper in the Acute phase?

I've had surgery post taper...about a year out.  No problems or resulting waves.  However, I was a regular blood donor before I tapered. The first time I donated blood (maybe 3-4 months after my taper ended),  I was hit by a wave.  I waited another year or so before I donated blood again and that time was fine.
