Just a note to say hi and so introduce myself.  I'm stumbling around here trying to learn the website so forgive my inadequacies.  I've been off benzos for 16 months but only off amitriptyline for about four months. Lots of symptoms but none as severe as back pain in the lumbar area. Can't do much physically or flares up terribly for a few days.  Makes me wish I didn't exist. I tried some edible medical marijuana that sent me into a horrible wave. I'm very blessed that I  have been able to continue working although it has been horrifically stressful having to deal with supervising others and also producing.  Sometimes I feel like this is never going to end that I will die of old age and all my misery from psychotropic medications. Any words of encouragement will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for being here for me!

Welcome!  My thought is that the back pain may not have anything to do with the drugs you were on.  Does ibuprofen, aleve. or anything like that help. Tried ice packs or heating pad? How about stretching your hamstrings.  Google low back stretches or yoga poses. Finally consider seeing a good chiropractor.  Thats all that comes to my mind. Hope some of it helps and congrats on getting off the drugs.

Thanks for your suggestions but yes this back pain is a withdrawal symptom and started in tolerance withdrawal and has come and gone to one degree or another for several years. I have tried all your suggestions and more. Stress makes it horrible and it seems to move around. I guess I will have to just ride it out. Unless someone who has experienced it has a suggestion for me???

Hi Terr,

I can't help with the back pain. Just wanted you to know you're not alone. I've experienced pain in most parts of my body due to benzo wd. It's especially bad in my neck, jaw and shoulders. Like you, everything I try only eases it slightly if at all. Thankfully we are not stuck like this!

Love and healing to you. xoxo
