I am joining benzo buddies because I used xanax for about 8 years. (Xanax XR) I was tapered rapidly as I was on .5mg because my doctor stated I was on such a low dose it wouldn't matter. That was about 9 weeks ago as I am having terrible balance issues (seen ENT-neurologist) and all kinds of other crazy sensations. Obviously the doctors don't fully believe me and when I tried to reinstate it didn't solve anything. I have had windows but this whole situation has momentarily ruined my career and any social life. I'm looking for help and just encouragement during this WD period.

Hi Tommy   Welcome to benzobuddies!

You will get plenty of support and encouragement here.  Thank you for sharing your story, many of us arrive here having suffered losses due to benzodiazepines. You will come through this, you will get your life back. Withdrawal is awful but it does get better with time.  I had balance issues, its quite a common symptom. Its always best to check these things out just to be safe. Benzodiazepines make changes to the central nervous system and it is going to take time for the cns to reset.

Congratulations on being benzo free.  The symptoms you experience are temporary, so hang in there, you will recover from this.  We have many supportive and kind members here who will support you and give sound advice. Feel free to check out the forum and post to any of our dedicated boards.

I would suggest you read The Ashton Manual, It is a great resource for understanding the effect benzo’s have on our body.  It provides withdrawal information and includes a list of common symptoms

Here are a few helpful links:

Professor Ashtons Manual

Post withdrawal recovery support.

If you would be so kind as to add a signature (history of meds/doses etc) it will help members give you relevant advice this link will show you how to  ”Create a signature”

Welcome aboard It will get better
