Need help with 0.25 mg Ativan liquid titration

Hi!

I am second time around here after 3 years of successful weaning off of Ativan. The first time i did a dry cut over a period of 3 months and i got off of it.

This time i want to try the titration method. I am taking 0.25 mg of Ativan in the morning. I break it off from a 0.5 mg tablet. Could some one please help me how to do the math for this. I am confused even after watching all the videos. I need advice on how to gradually do the cuts from 0.25 mg of Ativan. I am also taking 7.5 mg Mirtazapine and 30 mg Phenergan for sleep. I also recently stopped taking 3.75 mg of Zopiclone and 50 mg of Agomelatine (an AD) after 10 days. It never worked for me and gave awful side effects.

Dissolve 5 X .5mg tablets (2.5mg) in 5ml vodka or propylene glycol, and add 20ml water.  You now have 25ml of ativan solution, .1mg per ml.  This will be approx a 10 day supply.

 

To do a 10% per 30 days taper...

 

.5gm X 10% = .05mg

.05mg/30 days = .033mg/day=.0017mg/day  (round up to .002mg/day)

 

Your schedule would be:

 

.25mg (2.5ml)

.248mg (2.48ml)

.246mg (2.46ml)

.244mg (2.44ml)

etc...

 

Reduce your dose by .002mg (.02ml) each day.

But you're not going to be "drinking" alcohol, you would be using it as a solvent to liquify your benzo.  Several Rx liquid benzos use a small amount of alcohol as a basic solvent for their liquid benzo formulations.

 

And do you realize how tiny the amount would be?  Based on my suggest schedule, the max amount of vodka you would ever ingest  is only .5ml, and that's actually .2ml of alcohol.  (That's .04 (4/100ths) of a teaspoon)

I also read here that Mirtazapine helped you to come off of Benzo. How much Mritazapine did you take?

 

I am on 7.5 mg Mirtazapine plus 30 mg Promethazine in the evening for sleep. I feel so relaxed and calm when i take the Mirtazapine, but it is not enough for me to sleep and in the morning the anxiety comes back again. That's when i want to take the Lorazepam. Today early morning when i woke up with anxiety again, i took like 1/8 of Mirtazapine and i calmed down. Yes, i had anxious feelings all day but it was manageable and i did not take Lorazepam. And i also want to stop taking Promethazine, which the doctor gave me a week ago. My question is whether i could stop taking Lorazepam by increasing my Mirtazapine dosage.

Actually, I stopped the mirtazipine (except for an occasional small dose for sleep) before I started my DLMT.

 

I took 22.5-30mg/day for about 3 years after I became tolerant to the diazepam.  Then I stopped the mirt before I started tapering the diazepam.

Oh. O.K. I will definitely hold on to the mirt till i am completely off of Lorazepam. Even raise the dosage if it helps. I will talk to my doctor about it. Do Benzos or Benzo withdrawal cause or worsen depression?

Benzos are CNS depressents, so logically coming off of benzos should relieve depression.  That was certainly my experience.  As my taper progressed, there was a very obvious brightening of my general mood, more energy, an increase in self-esteem, etc.

Hi Builder,

 

I tried to stop the 0.25 mg Lorazepam without tapering as my doctor pushed me to do it. But ended up with severe depression and anxiety. Anxiety in the morning and hopeless depression in the afternoon. No motivation for anything. She even raised my Mirtazapine dose to 15 mg from 7.5 mg. But i get more anxiety from taking a higher dose of Mirtazapine with heart pounding.

 

I am still taking the Mirtazapine and Phenergan for sleep. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. My doctor adviced me to take 10 mg Phenergan when i have anxiety instead of Lorazepam. But it doesn't do much for me except make me tired.

 

Anyway I ordered the various syringes i need for making the solution and the Vodka. And going to start taper today. Should i store the solution in the fridge or at room temperature?
