any one else having a lot of trouble reading?

I'm having a lot of trouble reading very basic news/online articles, almost like I forget the meaning of a sentence while I'm reading it? And having trouble grasping the meaning of some basic words. My writing is obviously okay, but reading, somehow, is a huge struggle, which it usually isn't. Thanks for your help.

I'm an avid reader and there have been many days when I just can't. Sometimes I even have trouble following a tv program. I would bet this is pretty common in withdrawal.

As stated above, this is very common in withdrawal.

For me, I often have a rough time concentrating on what I am reading or watching because my mind is consumed by the way that I feel.

Hang in there.  They say it gets better!

Same here.  I feel like it's inevitable that even if you get lucky symptom-wise, reading would be difficult.  For me, my mind was racing far too fast, and even if it wasn't the shaking hands, brain fog, or visual issues would have got me.

Hi,

For several months into my taper (opiates 1st, then c/o from Ativan to Valium) I didn't have enough concentration to remember the beginning of a sentence by the time I reached the end.  Complicating this was the blurry double/triple vision, misreading familiar words, etc., so yes, it is a common side effect but it does go away.  In week 16 of benzo w/d, I sometimes have the blurry/double vision effect return but it is temporary and very possibly related to eye strain since I read a lot.

Don't worry - normal reading ability will return along with concentration.

Hi there, towards the end of my taper and the first month off it was madness trying to read. Then one day I was perfectly fine again. Scary and devastating when it happened, it will get better for you, slowly but surely!  :smitten:

This is me as well for the past few years. TV too. But starting to read books again.

Yes I get this as well.. is very frustrating. I have to re-read things over and over for them to sink in, and have the same trouble with the TV except I can't rewind and re-watch that..

Honestly you are not alone!!! I am feeling extremely scatterbrained and like I forget my thoughts while they are coming out. I am way better at writing. In person I feel jittery, physically and mentally. I hope this gets better for us. I can only pray. I think with time everything gets better. But the waiting game really sucks.
