Ah, our charming endocrine system. It actually is really cool. Except for right now when it's confused. You have a panic attack when your adrenals sense a lion chasing you when there isn't one right? This is like all the predators on the Serengeti chasing you at once, along with a group of bloodthirsty aliens. Acute sucks, man. You have the intense desire to escape, with absolutely NO place you can escape to. We are super heros yall. Forget Iron Man. We could probably all lift a bus right now with absolutely no provocation. Anybody else? Probably everybody else. #istilllovemyamygdala

Just like most specialists don't understand benzo's, they are also clueless with our endocrine system. I actually thought my adrenals were an issue while on a benzo. My cortisol hit the ground a few times. It was actually the benzo burning me out.

During the last days of benzo 2 months ago my cortisol level was skyrocketing. It still probably is. My thyroid levels are normal (I even checked those twice in a different places).

Omg. Yes. I had this so much at first. I just wanted to run, my anxiety was so bad, and nothing would help it calm down. I tried meditating and all that. Only took the edge off. Learning coping mechanisms through therapy has helped much more, but I still have those bad anxiety days.
