Why do we lose hair during withdrawal?

Is it because we have liver damage? Or are there other things that are going on as well? Thanks so much buddies

Fighting, I can tell you my experience.  I have only been in withdrawal for the past 2 weeks.  Prior to that, I had about 14 weeks on Ativan.  I have lost a good deal of hair.  It's not noticeable to look at me but I am shocked when I see what is in the drain and my brush and on my clothes.  I started losing the hair before I began my taper.  So I think it might also have to do with anxiety and depression.  But there is definitely some kind of correlation between these drugs, anxiety, and hair loss. I am convinced, in any event.  Keep the faith.

Thanks Lily, I noticed mine coming out like mad shortly towards the end of my taper. I'm really curious as to what is exactly out of wack.. It's brutal! We'll get through it though

My male pattern baldness has accelerated dramatically since taking benzos. At this point, I need to shave my head. I got a scalp micro pigmentation procedure done a few years ago but I don't feel comfortable with a shaved head. I grew my hair out. I'm debating getting a hair system from hair direct when I start feeling better but I don't want to deal with the maintenance of wearing a wig. In the past, as vain as this seems, I used to think I was too good looking to be bald and it wouldn't look right, and that I needed a great head of hair to match my handsome face. Since my life is so screwed up now, I don't even care about it anymore. It does suck being a really good looking dude with nothing to show for it but mental illness and chronic pain. It would be easier just being average looking because it gets annoying when people constantly look and smile at you and you can't do shit about it.

My hair was never my crowning glory, i.e. it was always thin.

It definitely got worse when I really started tapering in late 2015.

I too suffer hair loss that has accelerated.  This is especially annoying because I am also really, really, incredibly good looking.  In fact, I beat Hansel last year for the coveted male model of the year award.
