Hi all,

I seem to have white "fur" all over my tongue and am wondering if I am suffering from candida. I feel absolutely terrible. Would candida make one feel really crap when struggling with a wave? If so is there any way to combat the candida without triggering heavier waves? for example how does everyone feel about probiotics? what other treatment could one try that would not make symptoms worse? Or do you generally just live with it right through withdrawals? any info greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I have that too; developed it about four or five months after I quit meds...It sounds like candida. I tried taking anti-fungals and they threw me into a tailspin...made everything a million times worse. Some say swish with coconut oil or apple cider vinegar but these things too, come with their own set of "die off" symptoms. It's probably the hardest thing I've ever been through. It's created mental symptoms for me....Maybe more can chime in b/c I'm battling it myself...hang in there

I had candida type of issue as well. In my case nystatin drug helped. It is develop to treat candida and seems to be safe drug without major side effects. I didn't have any broblem with it. There are several brand names and you can find them by google nystatin in wikipedia. I take good quality probiotics daily as well in order to avoid having it back.

Thank you. I guess what I experienced was die off b/c every time I try to kill it, I get massive amounts of it. I've tried the Nystatin before for ten days and though it got rid of most of it, some remained. My doctor then referred me to an Infectious Disease Specialist which I have yet to see. I don't know that I can take a probiotic either; seems I get withdrawal symptoms or heightening of them..I think I'm just prisoner to this sensitive CNS...thank you again

Hi, So sorry you are dealing with Candida. I am too, in my gut, and have been on anti fungal and probiotics. I haven't had too much distress from the meds I took/take  for Candida  , but everyone is different.

Do you know which type of Candida overgrowth you have?

If not your Dr. Should test it, so they know what drugs will fight it off best.

Also a diet low in sugar/carbs helps because that is one thing that feeds the Candida.

I have Candida dublinensis, a rare type found in immune compromised people. I attract rare things, I guess  😕

Candida overgrowth can also be a sign of HIV infection or other immune issues, so go to the Dr. For sure. I have immune issues, but not HIV. But the thrush on your tongue could be a sign of an immunity problem. Get it checked out

If you have gastrointestineal problems, that can easily lead to Candida overgrowth.  (We ALL have some Candida, but some of us have too much)

For me yogurt, high quality pro biotic, and fermented foods like Miso soup have helped. If you can stand the taste of kimchee, it is also a good fermented food that promotes good gut health. I can't eat it, but I keep a jar in my fridge for good luck. 🙄

And get to that Infectious Diseases Dr. ASAP.

Know this is Rossho's post but thank you MorningOwl for the information. Yes, I was checked for HIV too-of course and thankfully, negative. I don't know how mine developed unless my crap immune system in this withdrawal. I'm trying to get in touch with the Infectious Disease Specialist; waiting on PCP to fax over referral. I pray to get this resolved. I feel I have too many things facing me in this and my fight is almost gone...

For candida issues (which many people if not most have and do not know) I really recommend looking at "The Body Ecology Diet" by Donna Gates.

My candida has stayed away. I agree the good candida diest. Need to look at this Donna Gates one. I have followed canida diet roughly 10 weeks now and recently I have tested my condition by adding some non diet items I like to eat but haven't had problems so it seem to be fine to follow the diet by 80%. Well, this is my case so I do not advice anyone to not follow the diet.
