Benzos have made me a shell of myself

Hello,

Last fall I was experiencing a tremendous amount of stress in my life and couldn't sleep. My doctor prescribed temazepam to help with the problem. I took it for about 6 weeks with doses ranging between 15-30mg. After I had been on it for a few weeks I started to have weird numbness and tingling sensations along with severe anxiety during the day. After my script ran out I decided not to refill it - this is when my hell began. During this cold turkey phase I requested some klonopin from the doctor since it is long acting. I only took this when my symptoms were really bad or when I was really stressed. There were times where I took a little bit every day (.25-.5mg), but I never instituted a traditional taper with the drug. This was probably a mistake.

I quit taking klonopin all together in early May. I continue to have symptoms and I'm always paranoid that something else could be going on besides benzo withdrawal. I decided to join this forum to find out if my symptoms match those of others suffering through this.

Post-withdrawal Recovery Support

When you have a chance, I highly recommend that you take a look at The Ashton Manual, which is an authoritative source on what to expect during withdrawal and recovery, authored by Dr. C. Heather Ashton, who is an expert in the field. It provides a great deal of information that can be very reassuring during any stage of this process, including a list of common with helpful explanations on the reasons for their existence.

Please take the time to . This will allow members to see where you are in the process, so that they can better support you.

Again, welcome!
