Please support petition on prescribed drug dependence to Welsh Government

As part of our ongoing campaign in the UK, Stevie Lewis has submitted a petition to the Welsh Government seeking support for patients who are in difficulties with drugs of dependence.  Health is a devolved matter in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Petition is open for signatures until the end of October.  Anyone can sign from any country.

This complements the petition already submitted to the Scottish Parliament which is progressing through the Petitions Committee stages.

And of course the British Medical Association continues to negotiate with the Dept of Health in London.

Surely something positive will happen .....

Thank  you for your support, everyone.

It's nice to see someone doing something to try and help the people that have been damaged by benzos and not just for people that may be hurt in the future. Good job

Thanks, Ernie.  UK govt dragging its heels so we have to put pressure on devolved govts in Wales and Scotland.

My friend just left. He stopped by to do a little body work on his truck and I could barely stand up to talk with him. I know I sound like a broken record but a while back I was forced to taper off of 6MGs daily of Klonopin in 12 days. I kept telling the doctors and staff that they were going too fast and they were causing me damage. I said, "I'm losing the feelings in my legs." The feeling never came back. I've been to lawyers and medical review boards an no one will do anything. I've spent thousands of dollars chasing illnesses before I found out they were caused by over rapid Klonopin tapering.

Now there's a federal bill (HR 1215 “Protecting Access to Care Act of 2017.” H.R.) in the US before congress or maybe the senate to limit how much people can sue doctors, hospitals and pharmaceutical companies for malpractice.

I am sorry, ernie.  I lost the sensation in my legs for 3.5 years but it has come back.

Governments and health care systems are not concerned with the impact on patients.  It is the same here.

loookingforward,

I remember asking you about Wales and Northern Ireland. I wasn't even sure about Scotland because of Brexit.

So here we go on petitions for these countries which are still part of the U.K. I absolutely will sign these petitions. My hubby has a doctor appointment today, but I will do it when I return. And I will let you know I've completed them right here.

And Ernie, I'm going to take a good look at that federal bill you mentioned.

It's definitely a House bill and not Senate because it's labeled HB and not SB, but could have been in collaboration with the Senate.

Having said that, I always am wary of any bill that comes from this Republican congress, but once again, there possibly could be bipartisan support.

I'll take a look at that when I return also.

I just signed the petition for Wales.

I can't figure out the one for Scotland. Do I need to login into an account to do this or what?

Or is because I'm on an iPad?

Any instructions would be helpful. This Scottish one is not as "clear cut" as the one for Wales.

I just realized that it's the petition for Wales that we sign; not the one for Scotland. No instructions needed.

So the one for Wales is SIGNED.
