Grateful for all the new things I have learned already.  I'm in my 15th week of tapering including c/o from 1 mg Ativan 3 x per day to 30 mg Valium split into 3 doses.  Benzo use goes back 35+ years and has been complicated by T3s and various antidepressants - now only taking Valium (24 mg as of today) and nutritional supplements - vitamins, Omegas, etc.

Hello, wynne - welcome to BenzoBuddies!

We love former lurkers, that's how a number of us began here. :) Congratulations on the great start to your taper - you've come to the right place to finish it off.

I'm so glad you decided to join the forum - you'll find plenty of information and support here. Our members have gone through all aspects of benzodiazepine use and withdrawal, so you'll be able to connect with others who understand what you're going through and can tell you what has worked for them.

Based on the information provided in your introduction, the following links may be a good starting place for you to post your questions.

  General Taper Plans

  Withdrawal Support

When you have a chance, I recommend that you take a look at The Ashton Manual, which is an authoritative resource on what to expect during withdrawal and recovery. It provides a great deal of information that can be very reassuring during any stage of this process, including a list of common symptoms with helpful explanations.

For those who are currently tapering, a starting guideline is that the dosage not be reduced faster than by 5-10% every 10-14 days - some taper even more slowly than that. One exception: very short-term users of a few weeks or less may be able to taper somewhat faster.

Please take the time to Create a Signature. This will allow members to see where you are in the process, so that they can better support you.

Looking forward to seeing you on the forum!

Welcome Wynne,

we have a similar hx, long term use of short acting benzo, now using Valium to help with the taper. Although you can see my sig I'm doing things a bit differently...

I too dose with Valium several times a day -- 4X and find that is what I need to do...

Glad you decided to join up!

Thank you for your welcome, SS: I'm so glad to be here!

I think that doing what we need to do is the only way to survive through this.  I'm still experimenting with my taper to try to minimize symptoms.

Good luck to us both!
