Available Valium Doses

Hi, new here, so I apologize if this has been asked before, but I believe that Valium pills are only available in 2mg, 5mg, 10mg....

so in the Asthon taper and other posts here i see things like 6.5mg of Valium or 8mg Valium...how is that achieved if it isn't a 50% split of a pill....like half of 2mg pill is 1 mg.

 

My fiance is attempting Klon to Valium Asthon taper from three .5mg klonopin daily for about 3 years. Sensitive to medicine...Klon the only one that helped with anxiety...long term meds like Paxil, Zoloft, etc not a good fit for him

There are many ways to do this. But why would someone want to take 6,5 mg ? I never cut like that, I always went 1 mg at once. If you need to hold a bit longer so be it, then just drop 1 mg but don't over complicate things like that. Many in here will disagree with me and they are advocating a really slow approach. I'm not judging this but I personally don't see myself taking 6,5 mg, I would just take 6 mg. As a matter of fact that's what I'm currently doing for my first dose of the day. I take 3 x 2 mg pills of Valium. 8 mg = 4 x 2 pills of 2 mg of Valium. You can make the 6,5 mg by taking 2 x 2 mg and half of a 5 mg Valium pill or 5 mg, half of 2 mg and a quarter of 2 mg but like you see this is over complicating things big time if you ask me. If you want 0,5 mg you take a quarter of a 2 mg pill. But what's supposed to be the difference between 6,5 and 6 mg ?? I really don't get that. You're friend won't feel the difference. Or he could take 7 mg instead and go down to 6 mg next time and hold a bit longer. Honestly if I would take 6 mg or 6,5 I would not feel a single difference. Dr. Asthon never even talked about cutting less than 1 mg. There must have been a reason for this. I never did it either.

It comes in 2, 5, or 10. Other doses are achieved either by cutting pills or by dissolving pills and measuring out liquid. Fractional doses make sense once you taper to lower doses. E.g. I tapered off my final 2mg by a sequence like 2, 1.9, 1.8, 1.7, etc, all the way down to 0.
