A sad report. Most were male and homeless. These pills are so insidious and paradoxical. When is there ever going to be a sea change with these drugs??? We've gone FAR TOO LONG with this.

Agreed, Terry. I also wonder about how multiple drug users/street drug users can safely get off benzos, when those of us who are using careful, calculated attempts have such terrible long-term effects.

That's a good question, Lapis. I'm thinking that they'll probably do anything to take care of the misery of withdrawal and will have to resort to means that will make withdrawal worse. Who knows what medical clinics would give them. What a tangled web big pharma weaves!

Absolutely, Terry. One of the BBC videos I posted recently showed a young man in Dundee, Scotland who was taking up to 50 2mg tablets of diazepam (from the street) on a daily basis. I just couldn't imagine how he'd be able to get off all of that without having a brutal time of it. I've reflected on it a lot since I watched that video, and I just can't get it out of my head. Apparently, he was a representative example of the major problem that exists there. So sad. A huge loss of human potential.

I saw that, too, Lapis. I just keep shaking my head. Even reading the stories on here, people being laughed at by doctors because they don't want to go c/t. It's just so sad. When is this madness going to end?

I'm not sure, Terry. The focus is on the opioid crisis right now, so it's possible that benzos are next in line for headline news. If we start seeing fentanyl-laced benzos, then it will inevitably hit the front pages. However, the whole issue may continue to simmer for a long time to come. I'm obviously not good at predicting things, so we'll just have to wait and see.

Yes, Lapis, we've been doing that for quite a long time now - waiting. But hopefully benzos will be next in line for headline news. I sure hope so!

I urge you to sit in a quiet room and think deeply about this question for a long time.  What is the SOURCE?  When in a war, you eliminate the SOURCE of your enemy's strength.  This is a war, or should be.  We are all so weak, weakened by decades of affluence and ease, paralyzed and confused by memes.  Step out of the bubble and look back.  You won't find a solution while you reside in the bubble.
