Can adding in a new medication at 7 months set one back? I feel like I'm at my end with the depression...I just feel nothing like myself and so worried that I won't be able to hold on. I just wanted to garner some experiences...I definitely don't want to kindle myself...

Hey hardtocope!  I remember how bad off you were back in March.  You have come so far, you should be very proud of yourself.

The low energy and depression are definitely still with me at 9 months off, but both are way better than they were.

So I started Lexapro in July. That was 7 months off for me.  I needed help mostly with anxiety, and didn't know what else to do.  I was just so uncomfortable day in and day out.

I can tell you that after about two weeks I felt much better.  The knots in my stomach were gone and my mood was really much better too.

However, the other side effects caused me to stop. The one that I couldn't live with was the sexual side effects, just so you know.  Everyone is different, but it's pretty common with SSRI's.  It just shut me down 100%. So I stopped after about a month.

I also, in the back of my head, hated the idea of being on something else that was going to mess with my brain AND cause withdrawal if I ever wanted to stop.

All in all, if I didn't have the issue I had, I'd have stayed on it 100%.  Because now the anxiety is back and it's really hard to smile or laugh or enjoy anything.

Hope this helps.

Thank you Irishman for your experience....I guess I'm worried about kindling myself but some of the symptoms I"m having are so unlivable. I'll keep holding on until I don't think I can anymore...Bad thing about adding on another is the start up side effects and who wants that on top of the hell that presently is....thanks again and hope you make good gains in months to come.
