Stopping soon, but what if?

Hi Team,

I was wondering, I'm almost done with Diazepam (down to 0.5mg from 10mg) so in 2-4 weeks it will be done for me.

What if after I stopped and get well, and I had the need to take let's say 5mg of Diazepam due to a procedure or something. Do I need to wean down from 5mg again if this is a one time dose?  or just go back to "0"?

I don't think one small dose would require a taper but I would avoid benzos period. All it took to throw me back into severe withdrawal was one dose during surgery.

So you had only one dose? or a few during surgery and recovery? I personally will not think one dose will do the trick, but it will help me knowing that if it gets to that point where you have no option but to take this one dose it will be safe without having to do this again.  My Functional Doc did tell me to use L-Theanine (200mg) on bad days or even daily as needed.

Most people have no problem using a one-off benzodiazepine dose on a rare occasion.  That being said, there are those whose experience is otherwise.  I've had surgery since I stopped take a benzo, but I decided not to take the pre-surgery drug because, though they wouldn't say what it was, I'm sure it was a benzodiazepine and I didn't want to take a risk.

Thanks!  I do not plan to take any but is always good to know just in case.   Just knowing keeps anxiety down.  :D
