Agitated and only by my partner

I know this may seem like a strange or redundant question considering what benzos are prescribed for but lately my agitation towards my partner has been surreal. No one annoys me, just him. We just got engaged and he doesn't do anything annoying that is different than before. However, he is really bothering me and everything he does is pretty much annoying. Just wondering if anyone has had "selective annoyance" like this before. TIA

Oh my gosh yes! Even though I never would, sometimes I want to punch my husband in the face. I think I direct all my frustration and irritableness toward him.

YES.  I actually got some books and a workbook about anger management, it's gotten really bad at times.  A lot of times I just try to not say anything out loud cause I know everything logically can't be his fault, even though it really feels like it.

So, it isn't "him" then...? ;)  :)

Hi there,

I have a lot of experience in this area. To answer one of your questions from before - it's never 'them' (or him) - it's always us. When we get stressed and our minds are tired our brains often attack what we hold dearest. We have a wonderful way of projecting our own troubles on to those who love us. Hang tough on this one. Wait until the withdrawal is over. If you need skills to deal with your relationship right now you should try CBT skills. There's a plethora of literature on this kind of worry and annoyance related to anxiety etc. Google 'conscious transitions relationship anxiety' - Sheryl Paul is a wonderful mentor. Thank me later ;)

I have this problem too - my husband is very chatty and often blurts out whatever comes to his mind.

It doesn't help that I was down to 20mg Valium in my taper when we got married - and the very next day his daughter (one of his three kids from his previous marriage -- he never told me about them and essentially lied to me for 2.5 years - I had no clue he had any children at all!) got ahold of me on social media and revealed herself as his daughter.

My world turned upside down - and I started numbing out by using more valium.and now I'm almost back to where I started with my taper.

I stifled my anger and sadness with benzos - and now that I'm tapering again it's all coming back. And he can't handle it. We haven't been intimate for 2 weeks since my taper has been intensifying and he is desperate for my love. I can hardly love myself let alone him.
