Well this October will be 3 long years since my Issues Began, I been off Ativan for like 10 months now and yet I still feel awful! My Sleeps are so bad I wake up feeling WORSE then before I sleep!

Most Days when I do get Sleep I wake up feel awful all day then for some reason maybe wake up more at night before bed, I also for some reason have muscle twitches now, achy muscles, and brain zaps and I am NOT on any meds at all, I used to get brain zaps from taking meds liek Remeron, yet now I am getting them for no reason at all

So Lets Review:

Muscle Aches

Brain Zaps

Wake up feeling worse then I did before sleep

All Day Fatigue

Cant Swallow Laying Down

And Yeah Im 10 LONG months out from my Last dose of Ativan and Its WORSE! So Any of you that say, Duh its still withdrawl are STUPIDLY WRONG! I think all this is getting worse and worse, I still really believe I have Sporatic Fatal Insomnia, they say you can last up to 5 years with it, its been 3 so I assume the worst comes soon

And before anyone says SFI is Hereditary thats Fatasl Famila Insomnia, I Dont have that I have the one that hits anyone without warning

I Guarantee you this, I dont get past Stage 2 sleep AT ALL

Hi Mark, the probability that you have SFI is infinitesimally small, although your fears are understandable.  I think there are only 6 confirmed cases, EVER. I'm sure you are scared, but you do not have SFI. Worrying about something so catastrophic will heighten your anxiety and interfere with any possibility of sleep. If you read the benzo buddy insomnia posts you will see that many people experience unbelievably long periods of complete sleep deprivation. Please take good care and try to stop worrying about SFI.

hey Mark,  I started to have twitches and zaps like crazy 8 months out. And I barely had them at all before.

my sleep is ok most of the time, but I did had some worse insomnia month 7 and then post  jump. and sometimes its bad even now. but usually it returns.

I tried Valerian couple times and it really helped.

I can relate and have terrible health anxiety on top of all that I am dealing with.  Mine started on Meds!  I wish I had realized it was most likely the Klonopin and tried some alternatives or I would not be on all these meds with a stay in a psych ward.  Stay strong and I hope this is just a wave for you.  Have you used magnesium bisglycinate or phospetidly serine.  Your nervous system is probably still over sensitized so try a tiny amount and see how you react.

I'm 2yrs 8 months off benzos and still struggling to sleep. I have no feelings of tiredness and I never get that sleepy feeling. All I have is feelings of exhaustion and still struggle to sleep. I'm averaging about 3 hrs a night now but keep waking during that time. I am totally sleep deprived. I have a lot of symptoms for SFI small pupils unable to stay asleep depression no feelings of tiredness it's an absolute nightmare day after day. I've tried all the usual supplements and OTC sleep aids nothing works. When I was on benzos and sleeping tablets  and withdrawing I averaged about 1 1/2hrs per night for almost 2 years. I'm at my wits end. I don't know how long this will go on for but I hope to God it's not SFI for us both.

Frank.
