Hi!

I am daily micro tapering.

It is not perfect. I still have icky waves.

I can drive now and on good days I can run now..

Is it normal to feel better as you taper down? Anyone else feel that?

I am tapering extremely slow.

Thank you for your reply!

Ah, that makes me a little scared. I have to be brave.

I guess we will see!

Why feel scared?  It should be this way...tapering too fast is usually the cause of symptoms.  Whatever you're doing is working.  It shouldn't change for the worse.

I am tapering extremely slow.

While many of us don't realize, long term benzo use has had  depressant-like side effects, but since it occurs gradually, we don't always recognize it.  There were definite and very definitive improvements once I started my taper.

That does not mean I didn't have wd sxs.  But there was also a very noticeable "brightening" of my overall mood, an increase in energy, renewed motivation, and a return of my sense of self-worth.

I had obviously suffering real depression, but just assumed it was aging, or just a general emotional decline.  Once I started tapering, I began to recover.

Hi, builder! This makes me feel a lot better. So thank you :)

You know, I was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder when I was twelve. It was so bad that two years ago my parents flew me home to try a treatment called "TMS" - long story short during my 10th treatment I was induced into a grand mal seizure in the doctors office. I had never had a seizure before and it terrified me so badly I was put on benzos. Here I am, 22 years old and in a situation I would have never imagined possible.

I see what you are talking about though..

Did your physical symptoms lighten, also?

It does happen to some people, and this is usually a good sign that your GABA receptors are starting to kick back up.  Yeah!  Hopefully you will continue to feel better.

very well said.

this is my second time withdrawing from a benzo. the first time i withdrew in 1993, i was in tolerance withdrawal (depression) from 0.5 mg alprazolam. the depression had just started after 3 years of use and i tapered off 0.5 mg over one month on doctor's orders. my depression lifted midway. i had only physical symptoms after the withdrawal -- benzo flu, benzo fatigue and IBS... but i was feeling much better than the entire time i was on the benzo.

Hi Lora, it was posted already that typically people feel worse while tapering down. I feel opposite as well so my extreme fatigue has maybe 50% lifted and 80% of my muscle pains have vanished. I do not feel depressed too much either but my motivation comes back so it seem I'm recovering. I'm already a low dose of Librium and wish I can jump next month. Well I'm not healed either but still have several w/d symptoms to deal with.

Thanks everyone for your input!!

Benzos made me physically ill as well..

So I feel sick on them and sick off of them.

Sometimes if I wonder if I am going too slow.

But then I remember what a rapid taper feels like.

I just woke up and my back is extremely tight and I'm nauseous.

I have also felt better, the lower my dose. I am micro-tapering very slowly, however, and I think that has made the difference.

My symptoms are less than they were, including the depression and anxiety.

No need to feel scared, it may continue this way for both of us  ;) OMG I hope so
