Am I going too fast? 1mg Klonopin/clonazopam

I've been liquid tapering for 5 weeks. Manageable symptoms,  bad headaches tight pressure, muscle aches. Some days worst than others. No missed work. I actually feel good knowing it was the drug that was making me have these symptoms everyday for that last 5 years or so. No more searching for OTC meds to alleviate pain.  Almost to half my dose. I am letting my symptoms guide me.  I have accidentally lowered too much a couple times,  but managed. Been trying to lower  .01 mg per day.  I know some have worse symptoms. I just think I always have it in my head, that tomorrow may be worse than today,, and that helps me get through each day.  Will I get more symptoms when I jump at this fast than usual taper?

Well if I read you signature right I have had about the same speed than you in the beginning. Slower I go the smaller my dose drops are. I crossed over to Librium but it is an other story. I think small reductions are good but i haven't had managed to do it as precise as you do it. I plan to jump on September as I think there is no reason to do this even slower in case my symptoms stays moderate/manageable. All the success to you with your journey!

Way too fast for some people... But others are fine...

What are your SX telling you...??

My concurn would be hitting 0 too fast, While your bodys reaction (cut lag time) may be some weeks behind...

-Easy fix... -hold a few weeks to see what happens...

-Or you can keep cutting and worry about it post jump...!! (Not my advice)...

If I hold for a couple weeks, would I not go into tolerance again?, I do plan on going slower if I need, I've almost held a couple times, if I have 3 days of extreme headaches has been my plan, when I have thought about that nightly dose on the 3rd day, it has let up, so I continue. I know I will probably having hold days soon as I am at my  halfway point.

Normally I would say NO, Forget tolerance... And that one would have to hold a long time backwards past stable and then into tolerance... -effectivly failing to resume tapering once stable from holding...

But you have only been tapering a couple of months, correct??

And you have cut 50%..??

And there are other similar meds involved too??

So the short taper time from tolerance makes it a bit risky and complicated, as you point out...

Perhaps my suggestion isnt ideal, and has more risk than normal...

But if things are getting beyond what you can handle, I still feel its  valid...

It all comes down to what you can handle as symptoms now and future..

My opinion is that tolerance and withdrawal are two different things, but there is a transition period at the start of a taper, -variable and indervidual...

The choices I see, asides from continuing as you are...

-reduce cut size and frequency, perhaps add short holds..

-hold until you are stable.. and reduce slower..

-and if things are/get unbearable, updose/dose correct, hold till stable, slowly reduce by SX...

Just my thoughts for you to consider or discard... -Depending on how you see and feel about your situation...

Hope it all goes well...

EDIT... -sorry -I got my reply a bit mixed up with another thread, in the back of my mind...

-so just take what works for you out of this...

I was thinking that you are in much worse shape than what you seem to be in...

Simply on tolerance, I think a few weeks would be fine, not a few months... -but its not too much more than a guess...

And I suppose the choice would become one between WD and Tolerance, or something in the middle...

The choice would look very different from extreme WD, as to mild WD...

Hope I havnt confused you too much...

:(

Stopping benzos does not fix the reason you started taking them.

This is a deeper, more difficult issue.

Although going CT is hell, it offers a catharses of epic proportion.

It puts the entire concept of being in pain into perspective.

Obviously not recommended for children.

I look back at the mortification fondly.

I assume  many (or most) of us here have some sort of anxiety related issue, if not the medication was being taking for recreational purposes (no judgement), or erroneously prescribed.

The thing that would worry me, and probably most others, about going cold turkey on benzos is the risk of very serious complications.

When the fear becomes hyperbolic, there comes a point where it's just 'ok kill me now'.

If this can pass, you realize something important.

Cold turkey from benzos is a serious medical issue, don't fuck around being brave.

After that it is phsyco/spiritual.

speak for yourself pls... -My reasons are long gone, -never to return...

And I see this reflected in many peoples posts, after they have gently tapered off...

If you Get a kick out of a CT and what follows, great for you... But I would suggest that is why you find healing elusive...

It has been suggested that the process of tapering itself, gives strength and tools that often out weigh the original complaint... assuming it wasnt misdiagnosis in the first place...

And I fail to see a CT as therapy for a presenting condition or situation anyway..??

Limi... assuming can be problematic...

Benzos for me were for a tempory, specific, and physical situation... many here have needed Valium as a muscle relaxant, as an example...

Lobo, I can't even relate, " get it over with" . but to each his own.  Thanks cantfly and others to your responses.  I understand the underlying condition, anxiety years ago, but I have new tools these days to deal with that. Number one being , I dont need meds for that. I have been miserable enough in the past 8 years or so, to know, tolerance has been a major problem that has been going on.  Discovering I was in tolerance has been the best thing to happen in years.  And to think it all started with a meeting at work.  I work for a pain management clinic, we had been having trouble getting claims paid for our drug screen testing. They explained why they gave them. ( my dr had previously made me take one) I questioned her as to why I had to take one since I was not on pain meds, she just said it was something new. After my meeting at work, I went home and researched my meds. I was floored.  But I am thankful I found out.  I got my plan together, and its each day, I am a day closer.  So thankful for benzo buddies for sure !

Edited to add (  I don't work for my prescribing dr, I work in a different medical facility)
