As you can see from my signature, I am back to halfway through my taper due to tapering too fast in t the beginning. Even though I updosed from 4mg to 10mg, the insomnia is awful!! If it's this bad now, I can't imagine how I'm going to survive the next 8 months of tapering and the months after while I'm Valium free. I'm a long time user (8 years), I'm worried my sleep will never go back  to normal. Did anyone else have insomnia early in their taper? Is there anything that helps? I've cut out caffeine, sugar, eat low carb, drink lots of water. I'm losing it and didn't know how long I can take this. Sending hugs to everyone.

Have you considered talking to a naturopath or trying acupuncture? That's the natural route. Many people have also tried meds like seroquel (trying to get off myself), trazodone, or a low dose of gabapentin. Obviously, considering the former would all be needed in a thorough conversation with your pdoc. I have a friend who said his insomnia healed as he got lower, assuredly as his brain healed. We all heal. No matter what comes your way you will get through it.

I've been having this exact same problem on all my attempts except the first one that was a succes and got me off for about 2,5 years. I reinstated. It is funny that the less of this poison you will take the more sleep you will get. I got more sleep on 4 mg than at 15 mg. You are not alone. I recently did the exact same like you ! I tapered down from 15 mg to 9 mg in 1,5 weeks, got into a huge depression and was in bed for 3 weeks, then out of bed and had to reinstate to 13 mg, now yesterday I was on 12 mg and today I'm going to 11 mg and hold for a few weeks I think. You see this is just the way it goes. Not everyone has patience like that to do the slow approach but at least we are going down too and we been cutting few mg's don't you think ? Yes following the Ashton protocol from now on would be a great idea and good thinking. I'm going to do the same from now on. Honestly it's just too hard and too much of a risk to keep doing what I've done and what you've done. It's bad for the body and the central nervous system and I been doing this for years. It just has to end somewhere.

Good morning newgrl  ☺️I live in the sticks so acupuncture is not an option. I love that idea but ppl around here consider that voodoo. They trust the licenced drug dealing doctors with every fiber of their being though, go figure. My bz doc wrote me out Trazadone but I'm afraid to take it, especially this early on. I'm going to try sublinguial melatonin 1mg and sleepy time tea at night. Hugs  :smitten:

Insomnia is pure h*ll. I feel fine during the nights, not sleepy but less anxious, depressed and dizzy.

Sleep about 3 hours /night wake up during those 3 hours drowning in sweat.

Then the day begin,,,the nightmare starts and it's the same old story.

Feeling dead,  depressed, anxious,  sick with no energy.

Tried to cut, not a good idea yet. I used to sleep like a princess, wake up happy and energetic.

Now where did that person go..I wonder.

Healing time..yes but for how many months, years.

I just sleep in the mornings, no prob for me...

Its all getting better as I get more stable, and taper slower...

Thankfully sleep is the one thing that hasn't been affected so far for me, except for not being able to sleep in (once I wake up I'm pretty much awake)..

You're doing all the right things.. it will get better. Stay strong.
