Well - another night with zero sleep....... but it's my fault.  i keep researching remedies for acne and hair loss - people keep insisting these issues are not being caused by the cold turkey valium WD.  i know my hormones are very out of balance - from labs done before and after valium use.  my testosterone swung from lower third to upper third..... benzos suppress both testosterone and prolactin so when you go off them - there are surges in these hormones..... anyhow - i decided to take a dose of evening primrose oil - as it works for both hair loss and acne.  i had some here since i used it a while back for estrogen dominance..... well - it set off a real panic attack and i was awake all night - shaking - nervous - and beyond upset with myself for taking it.  i envy those who don't seem to be so sensitive during withdrawal  .  i can't even take vitamin c or magnesium anymore despite taking pretty high doses of these before ever taking a benzo..

usually supplement setbacks cost me 24 hours.... pray that is the case.... 2-4 hours of sleep isn't great but it sure is better than zero..... hopefully it will get out of my system soon....

Well - another night with zero sleep....... but it's my fault.  i keep researching remedies for acne and hair loss - people keep insisting these issues are not being caused by the cold turkey valium WD...

Both of those are very common effects of WD, SSR. There are references to it all over the site; people's hair falling out in clumps and a very wide range of skin problems from acne to psoriasis to eczema.

I also happen to think they are gut-related and possibly have something to do with under-eating. If you google the typical symptoms of 'under-eating' there are a surprising number of them in common with benzo WD, including the hair thing.

Awful sorry you had that experience.

Hope things are better now :smitten:

I was like you and often researched my symptoms,  looking for ways to combat them.  99.99% of the time I regretted it, not to mention the stress that searching for rational explanations can cause.  All of our hormones are out of whack in withdrawal, but they realign as we heal.  I know how hard it is to sit back and just observe these awful symptoms, but once I surrendered to the process and had faith that my body would sort this stuff as I healed, the more tolerable this whole process became.

I also lost a ton of hair, and had a male pattern baldness thing going on for much of my taper.  My hair started growing back around .125mg of K, and 13 months after my jump, I have a full head of healthy hair again.  For the fist 6 months of my taper, my back and neck oozed with horrible eczema.  That also corrected itself, and never came back.  The symptoms that freak you out now, may very well not be there just weeks from now, so hang tight.

All the best,

WR

thanks for the kind replies.  i had stopped researching symptoms that seemed clearly related to WD - gave up looking for remedies for the anxiety, agoraphobia, insomnia, etc.,  it just seemed the acne and hair loss might be unrelated and something i could treat...... they really contribute to my overall anxiety and fuel the agoraphobia since i don't want to be seen looking like this - so drastically different from how i looked before.

i am not under-eating - i eat a ton - 4 to 5 meals per day plus snacks - i am not sure how much of it is getting absorbed.  i am able to tolerate a probiotic twice a day - one of the few things i haven't had to give up but since i cannot eat fermented foods like yogurt - my gut certainly isn't getting rebuilt that way....

its been a brutal day.  time standing still with this set back..... but i guess i've learned it doesnt matter if symptoms are or are not related to WD - it seems supplements just aren't going to work......

it is reassuring the hear the hair will grow back .  i think those of us who unknowingly did a cold turkey may have slightly more severe symptoms with shocking the brain so dramatically..... my hair is really long, so its going to take a long time for it to recover  - i'm 9 weeks out and no sign of slowing down or any new growth...... i have had my hair thin twice from thyroid issues but didnt develop near bald spots at the front of my head - impossible to hide it..... very distressing..... but i have to stay strong so thanks for the encouragement

Oh! The hair loss and acne! Tonnes of us are experiencing both and they are DEFINITELY as result of benzo withdrawal buddy! I did the same earlier on, searching like crazy only to find its part of the whole process. I hear you as far as supplements, definite no no for me as well! I pray you get some sleep buddy and your wd's with be less and less intrusive. Much love  :smitten:

Well SSR1975 we keep trying don't we?  I think we all do it!  Or speaking for myself  I took a  dose of vitamin C, something that was recommended, and had two days of hell..... So yes we are sensitive, and yes we keep trying...

I hope you feel better soon....
