Medicine Safety - Pregabalin and Gabapentin

I know that people on this forum are familiar with both Gabapentin (Neurontin) and Pregabalin (Lyrica) but perhaps people are less familiar with the problems they might face if they take them in combination with other drugs.

 

Both Gabapentin and Pregabalin can cause depression of the central nervous system which leads to: decreased breathing rate, decreased consciousness, decreased heart rate

 

Taking other drugs that depress the cns add to the effect.

                                                                antidepressants

                                                                alcohol

                                                                antihistamines

                                                                anti emetics

                                                                anti epileptics

                                                                anxiolytics and hypnotics (benzos and antipsychotics)
