18 month taper getting off .5 Ativan a day... and still going!

I crossed to Liquid Valium at 4 mg (equivalent to .4 mg ativan) and after 18 months I am down to 1.38 mg a day.

It has taken a toll. Not just from the withdrawal but from taking diazepam every day. I am sluggish, have poor memory, anxiety and hurt all over.

If I taper too quickly I get very anxious and paranoid and it has very negative effects in my relationships with others.

I am impatient. I can only manage .02 mg taper every week, so effectively I am micro-tapering, but I cannot handle doing it every day. Just 2x a week and I still feel anxious and paranoid. It is manageable, though.

I am lucky that my doctor keeps filling my prescriptions and supports my slow tapering schedule. At this rate it is going to take me another year to get completely off... but hopefully I am healing along the way and when I jump I will not have any more withdrawal effects? One can only hope. I am looking for a positive angle on what I am doing! I have a job and little kids and need to function. It is hard to keep going but I must!

Sounds Great... Yes you do heal on the way down, and it is possible to avoid bad post Jump WD if tapering by SX and staying functional...

Matching medicine intake to healing...

Yes it takes time, so hang in there... But plenty of people are doing it this way...

-And yes, I sure do feel the V at this dose, but it mirrors WD SX too...

Best wishes... -Doing Great..!!
