High blood pressure

Recommended Posts

I take medicines for the high blood pressure. Since I started tapering Diazepam, I noticed something strange. Every single anxiety affects me.

My blood pressure raises from exempli gratia 130 / 70 to 150 /70.

I did not have that when I was not trying to reduce Diazepam. What to do ??

Regarding sleeping, no problem. Vitamin C hits me on the head and I fall asleep in the chair.

Thanks in advance.

Here is a scale that I use for measuring out doses of bp drugs: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ESHDGOI/ref=asc_df_B00ESHDGOI5126870/?tag=hyprod-20&creative=395033&creativeASIN=B00ESHDGOI&linkCode=df0&hvadid=167134584690&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=5623149200858170033&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9031944&hvtargid=pla-304071963067

You don't say anything about what benzos you've been on or are on now, but I do know that nerves are very, very sensitive to any changes we make once we've gone through benzo withdrawal or even while taking benzos. I've found that getting this scale and measuring out my doses carefully has helped me to reduce BP drugs. I keep a log so I know how much in dosage I need to start out with for next time. I also wait about three weeks to a month before I start another taper. (I've made mistakes, and of course my bp went up). I have learned to go very slowly, no matter what bp pill it is, even if people posting online say that it's no problem at all to just quit taking a large amount. With benzos I've found out that I've had to be very careful in either introducing or tapering drugs. The nerves don't do well with sudden changes. They respond better to very slow, gradual changes and then waiting for a period of time after you taper. Maybe your bp went up because you were tapering fast and didn't wait long enough afterwards. Slow and steady is the way to go with benzos and bp drugs you're tapering during or after benzo withdrawal.

I used to take Diltiazem. I don't remember how I tapered off of it. When I was in the hospital, I was told to get off Diltiazem and was switched over to another pill later. I have to make sure I go very slowly now. Trial and error. I found out the really hard way not to go quickly.

Good luck!

Terry38,

Thanks a lot ......

I do not dare to taper blood pressure pills. I only taper Diazepam, but this tapering affects my blood pressure. It goes higher for every little problem that. I encounter, even if I get digestion problem or problem at work.

I inherited blood pressure problem from my later father, who died of the heart when he was quite young and died in 30 minutes. I am on 2.5 mg Concor and 5 mg Amlodipine and my blood pressure is pretty good. I do not dare to taper any of those medicines. I get mild arrhythmia any time that my blood pressure goes up.

I taper Diazepam, because I have now fine pills that solve my petit mal (mild epi) problem. But, again, I noticed that since I taper Diazepam, my blood pressure is not as rock solid as it used to be.

However, I was taking, at average 15 - 20 mg of Diazepam (or equivalent Bromozepam) per day, while now I am at 10 mg of Diazepam every third day, which makes it something like 3.3333 mg per diem. I am proud of it and soon I will be on 3 mg per diem.

But, my blood pressure is another story. Too dangerous to play with.

Thanks again for your advices.

I am so, so sorry. I can't believe it! All this time I was talking about Diltiazem and you said Diazepam!  :-[

I would suggest going very slowly with your taper if you can do it. I think it's better for the nerves.

Good luck, and I'm so sorry again!!!
