I delayed starting grad school because of this!

I can't start grad school this term due to withdrawal. My psychiatrist forced me to withdraw by cutting of my prescription. I've been on alrapzolam or clonazepam for 27 years every day at high doses and he just decides to cut me off! Now I have to basically stop my life while I go through this. I am supposed to start a new job in a few weeks. I don't know how I'm going to make it through training, let alone do the job on my own.

Sorry to hear, is it possible for you to go see another physician in order to obtain a new script of Xanax, or Klonopin?  I don't know all the details, but it sounds incredibly irresponsible on the psychiatrist's part, he must know that going cold turkey off benzos is not an option.  Maybe another physician will be sympathetic and understanding of the dangers associated with going cold turkey.  It's not like you were taking these things for recreational purposes.

I'm currently in grad school, and I'm trying to get in a good routine because right now what I'm going through is very disruptive.  I'm lucky in that I have ample meds available, in my case though Xanax causes me to have very bad interdose withdrawal, so I'm currently seeking a longer acting alternative since I don't want to take higher doses of Xanax.

I feel your pain. Ive been tapering off 3mgs of K after 10 years being on them and I just started college again at 30 for nursing. Beyond challenging but I just finished my first week so Im going to keep at it until I just cant. I guess thats what all of us are doing in a way. Pushing until we cant and then step back and reevaluate and move forward best we can. Your stronger than you think.
