For women- progesterone in bc pills?

As I become more educated, I am realizing that progesterone has effects on GABA? I have to take bc pills for my PCOS. Do I need to switch to one without progesterone? I don't want to do more harm than wd is already doing. Thanks for help.

I've been concerned about this too and would like to follow your thread. I'm currently taking loestrin 1/10 birth control pills continuously with no placebo week to treat endometriosis. Which one are you taking?

I take microgestin. So are you just purposefully skipping the placebo week? Or is that how it is prescribed?

I think it's to our benefit that we are on low dose bcp.

 

Yes, my doctor has me taking only the active pills continuously so I never have a period. My situation is a little strange. I had a hysterectomy but still have one ovary and still have endometriosis in my abdominal cavity. Taking the pill continuously keeps the endo from spreading and getting worse. I also started perimenopause about a year and a half ago and the pill keeps that from happening. The wild hormone fluctuations caused by peri were making all my benzo symptoms much worse and on top of that my bipolar mood swings were unbearable. I truly believe that if I wasn't on bcp I would not have made it this far in benzo recovery.

I was on BC a year ago and it was a disaster. I gained a bunch of weight and stopped taking them, but the weight did not come off... and I am on diazepam and sluggish. I don't recommend BC pills while tapering. It made things worse for me.

I just CT my hormones and going through a rough time and I haven't even started tapering off my LIbrium yet.  My Progesterone levels are way down and so my benzo is not working so good on me now.  I did so well on low dose BC pills but then doc put me on Natural Progesterone and man, that stuff was potent and could tell it was reacting to my Benzo but the BC pill never did and I felt awesome.  I hope to reinstate it during the withdrawal from my Benzo (Librium) as I can't tolerate going through 2 withdrawals at the same time.  Going into a taper being hormonally unbalanced sounds really bad to me.
