At .25mg valium. Time to Jump? Advise please. Thanks!

Hi, I have been down to .25 mg Valium for about a week. I am skipping every other day completely. I find that the days I take it I feel horrible. The days I skip I feel good. Does this mean it is time to Jump?  I know it is a small amount but it has been a long road that started with Ativan about 8 months ago followed by a swap to valium about 5 months ago. I don't want to mess up now that I am finaly at this stage.

Many Thanks!

I would jump. At 1mg V myself and I plan on jumping next week. Good luck.

Okay, I just looked up the equivalent and I see it's .0625mg of Klonopin. I would cut it down again, if it was me, and take just half of that for my next cut.  However, you may be fine jumping off from that, as that is a relatively small dose.

Hi Sarajane, you seem to be doing great! Here is what the Ashton manual has to say about this:

Getting off the last tablet: Stopping the last few milligrams is often viewed as particularly difficult. This is mainly due to fear of how you will cope without any drug at all. In fact, the final parting is surprisingly easy. People are usually delighted by the new sense of freedom gained. In any case the 1mg or 0.5mg diazepam per day which you are taking at the end of your schedule is having little effect apart from keeping the dependence going. Do not be tempted to spin out the withdrawal to a ridiculously slow rate towards the end (such as 0.25mg each month). Take the plunge when you reach 0.5mg daily; full recovery cannot begin until you have got off your tablets completely.

Congrats on coming this far!!!

Thanks for your response and for the information. I did indeed jump about a week ago. Doing okay. A little morning angst and ongoing tinitus but all tolerable. So glad to be off this horrible stuff. Will see what the days ahead bring but regardless I am done.

Thanks SJ
