Hello I found this site and have found it has really calmed my nerves. I have been taking klonopin for going on a year now. I started off on a need only basis howeveras time went on I found I needed them more and more. My dose started at 1mg 2x a day and after some months went on I began to feel the effects lessen if I didn't take more. I have been trying to taper now for about 5 weeks and it's hell. I am down to 0.5 or 0.25 mg daily, cutting the tablets in half. I have high anxiety depression and I've turned into a hypo chondriac as well. I've been having headaches, dizziness and muscle weakness, burning eyes, burning sensation on my skin, and gastrointestinal issues as well. I'm just looking for help and support and this seemed like a great place to get it.

Hello stingernwo  Welcome to Benzobuddies!

We are glad you found us, and will get plenty of support here.  Well done in your decision to taper off these drugs.  Tapering slowly is the best way to withdraw from benzodiazepines.  Reducing your daily dose by somewhere between 5% and 10% every 10 - 14 days is the rule of thumb, you can go slower, whatever feels comfortable. The aim is to keep symptoms manageable.

I would suggest you read The Ashton Manual, It is a great resource for understanding the effect benzo’s have on our body.  It provides Tapering and withdrawal information and includes a list of common symptoms

You will find some very valuable support and information on the forum.  Our members are happy to share their personal experiences with you and support you.. Please feel free to browse the boards and post questions to any of the dedicated threads.

Thanks for welcoming me, I don't know if anyone else has similar symptoms to me but it'd be great to hear them, I've gone to see so many docs had bloodwork done but no one seems to understand, I've had doctors say oh just stop. Consulting with a pharmacist she was surprised I had been taking them that long and said you'll just have to deal with it. It's scary when u worry constantly like me about everything especially your health.. The nights are the worst, burning skin heat I just wanna be myself again. And I have been under extreme stress for a long time, which I am currently getting help for.. This is a lot tougher than I ever thought.

Hello stingernwo

Yes I had all of the above, and more. These are all common withdrawal symptoms. They are temporary I promise you, with time they will go.

Hang in there it does get better.
