Trouble sleeping

6 days after a 2.5mg Valium cut. Was still sleeping until tonight. Am I just looking into a few days of insomnia until I stabilize, or is this going to last longer?

Well, I ended up falling asleep eventually, but it sure took a long while.

LorazepamFree,

I'm glad you got some sleep last night. There's no telling how long it will last for you but it's a good sign that you were able to sleep some even if it took some time.

Once in a while I get hit with bouts of insomnia.  This recent bout earlier this week lasted 3 sleepless nights even after taking Rozerem. Melitonin and 7.5mg Mirtazapine (I am tapering the mirt because it stopped working for me).

I have a scrip for Lunesta (just as needed of course), but haven't tried it yet.

My wife picked up some Zzzquil, of all things, and I got some sleep!  Maybe I was just exhausted, but I'll chalk it up as a victory for Zzzquil.

Give it a try for future bouts.

Good luck

I'm new here. I tapered down from Lorazapam very slowly. I thought I was doing pretty good but realized that I was starting to wake at 6am. I would have a protein smoothie and go back to sleep then I was having to add valerian root to that then I had to take Valium. Finally after being off of lorazepam  for about 4 days, No amount of valium, lorazepam or anything could knock me out at 6 am. I am back to waking myself up at 3am to take Lorazapam so i can sleep through the night. if i stay awake at 6, i feel like i haven't slept at all.

i am reading about cortisol levels and wonder if i add benzos before the cortisol gets dumped into my system, i can sleep through and not wake at 6am. but, if i wait till i wake at 6 am, the cortisol is already dumped into my system and no amount of drugs can override the rise in cortisol.

i am going back to a nutritionist that helped me last year. i had to stop because of money and i was having a bad reaction to every supplement he prescribed for me. I am desperate now so i' have to try. if i didn't have to work, i could just taper off and put up with the insomnia but i can't drive or concentrate at work.

has anyone else studied the pathophysiology of benzos and what supplements to take while tapering?
