I'm sorry, am I reading that right that you tapered 10 mg lorazepam (ativan) in under two weeks?  May I ask how long you were on it, and how long since you stopped taking it?  (It says 5 weeks, but I don't know if that is updated recently -  a specific date is a little better on there).  Is there a reason your doctor tapered you that quickly?  Many people can't tolerate tapering from 1mg in two week, much less 10.  If I were you, I would consider talking to the doctor and seeing if I could reinstate and do a slow taper.

Hello Anyx,

I'm very sorry you're suffering so much.  Benzo withdrawal is one of the hardest, if not the hardest, thing many of us go through in our lives.  However, posting about self harm is against the rules here, so I've removed the references in your post above.

Intrusive thoughts and images are fairly common, I had them, and they were awful.  But, they temporary and they really will go away in time.  I'd done a fast taper, not quite as fast as yours, but fast tapers and c't's do produce extreme symptoms in many of us.  That's why we suggest that members taper slowly.

Feeling depressed and out of control of one's life is not uncommon during benzo withdrawal. Hopelessness and extreme negativity are themselves benzo withdrawal symptoms. So is the belief "I'm never going to heal." Many of us feel that way at times. But we're really not ourselves during withdrawal, and please understand that these feelings and symptoms are temporary and they WILL go away in time. Benzo withdrawal is a waiting game, and it takes time for one's brain and CNS to return to normal.  Time itself is the healer.

However, if you are really feeling suicidal, you must get in-person, on the ground help immediately.  As an international internet forum, we are not equipped to handle this kind of situation when it gets to this point.  Please have a friend or relative come and stay with you, call a helpline, or get professional help if you continue to have these feelings.  Your welfare is important to us. Also, our members, though very caring, are sensitive to suicide references, an that's why it's against the rules to discuss the subject of suicide here.
