Very long story short i was on 15 mg of balium it took me two and half years of liquid titration to get to the last mg. so now on 1mg i had a bad head injury and since my brain was in a weak state the neurologist said i have developed focal seizures a type of epilepsy. not only is it going to be super hard he has put me on lamictal which halts glutamate but benzo withdrawal does the opposite. its like having the foot on the gas and brake ar same time. now im completely lost. can my brain still heal from getting off benzos now that im on lamictal? i feel terrible everyday when i was so close to getting better. im completely lost now. weening off benzos gives me more chance of a seizure as well. is it even possie to ween off a benzo while on lamictal? will it do me any good?

It sounds to me as if you are in two process which are complementary - a glutamate over-production from WD, but with a med that keeps a lid on glutamate excess?

I don't know anything about Lamictal, but I have noticed from reading that many people use it in the WD process, probably for that very purpose.

Maybe someone who is experienced can comment? Hopefully so.

All the best :)

Some people actually find lamictal extremely helpful for benzo withdrawal, due to the fact that it keeps glutimate at bay.  Just like all meds, not everyone responds to it, but some really find that their symptoms decrease quite a bit after using it for a while.  That being said, if it does work for you, I would wait quite a while before tapering off the lamictal.  You don't want to feel "healed" from benzo damage, only to taper off lamictal too soon, thereby opening the floodgates.
