What are you grateful for?  I replied under a post "Vent." And I did but then felt I had to balance it out and recognize my gratitude.

I am grateful for much.  I am grateful I found out about these nasty drugs and the damage they do before I entered tolerance withdrawal or went on for years.  I wasn't abusing, but for me it was like taking a vitamin or my BP RX every day.  I'm grateful I found BB - I have learned so much and made many BB friends who have been there when I needed help.  I don't know what I would have done without Builder whose patience with me can't be understated.  I am grateful for those friends who have come along my side when I have questions or needed a lift.  I am grateful I have a supportive doctor who truly cares about me and checks up on me a doctor who has let me guide my taper - my dose, my speed  and didn't look at me as an addict as I was so afraid he would - I was terrified he was going to make me go to a detox center when I told him I wanted off, I'm grateful he didn't just cut me off.

I am grateful for a supportive husband who makes the donuts with me.  I am grateful he understands when I can't get out of bed.  I'm not sure however, how much more he can withstand - a person can only take so much.  But he is a patient fellow and I believe he is in it for the long haul.  I am grateful for my neighbor and girlfriend who says enough is enough- you are getting out of the house today.  A friend who listens to me when I'm in the pit, when I relay my health anxiety to her, when I can call her and she is there for me.  I'm grateful  for the distractions of tv - yes tv!  This is huge because my husband and I always tried to limit tv with our children.  I'm grateful for my iPhone and iPad - I can stay in bed and be connected on the bad days.  I can watch youtubes of other people in this situation or music videos which always serve to lift my mood.    I'm grateful for my animals - my dogs, my horses, even my chickens.  And, also my annoying, overly talkative and funny African Grey Parrot.  Without him I would have no messy cage to clean, or spend time making his gourmet food or listening to his ever changing communication such as  - "Want to buy a car - Buy a car?"  I can only assume he heard a tv commercial.  A parrot that has me conditioned to his every whim - I need food, I need new water, I need new bath water, I want a peanut - and the list goes on.

What a great post IWIK.  i hope that you're feeling a bit better everyday.  Such a good reminder that our gratitude is what keeps a smile on our face of ourselves and those around us, even through this unbelievable ordeal.

Thanks for being there for me and so many others on this board.  All that and a parrot too!
