Hi all! Has anyone has success with supplements to help ease the psychological symptoms? After experiencing horrible and debilitating adrenaline/cortisol surges when I first woke up I started doing some research. I know for the 10 years that I was on the poison called Klonopin it changed the chemical balance in my brain, so what if these 'waves' are just my brain trying to reset itself?? So I looked into supplements to help maintain neuro-transmitter balance. I started taking L-theanine for help boosting serotonin 3 days ago. I feel SOOOO much better. I haven't hit the floor wanting to die or in extreme all over psych/physical pain. When my adrenaline rush started when I woke up my body kicked in and chilled it out enough that I was able to get up and walk 4.5 miles. I've been awake for almost 7 hours and I'm just now starting to feel a little heavy in my head. I'll take that ANY day over what I've been going through, I've never wanted to die before benzo withdrawal.

I know a lot of people say that they stop the supplements if they feel "amped" up from them, but really isn't that how we should feel for a few days after starting something that is meant to level us out? I can  deal with a few days of revved up sx if it means that when I come out I'll feel a million times better.

This is the info I found:

Serotonin - L-theanine

acetylcholine - huperzine-A

Dopamine - L-tyrosine

Gaba - taurine

Has anyone tried these for longer than a week??? Did they help???

(Sorry if this is all over the place, my DP/DR & cog fog are still really bad)

5htp. But i think we should take only one. Because the neutrotransmitters are connected

5htp is giving my head back.

Hi Healthfirst!!!

Thanks for the reply. I'm supposed to take methyl-folate for MTHFR gene mutation, but I can only take it every couple of days, it gives me a wicked headache after I take it. I know I need to stick with taking it, but dealing with the depression was really important, I thought I was about to die. I wasn't aware that 5-htp was for all the neurotransmitters????

Took theanine for a few months (month 2 - 4 or 5) around 600 a day in 3 doses. At the time I felt it helped but who knows. I don't think was anything miraculous but I take it once in a while now. It probably has more effect now as well since my sx are not as intense now.
