Hi Buddies,

I went again to see my addiction specialist last week.

My GP's (I see 2) didn't believe that I'm still effected by PAWS about 9-10 months later. My specialist told me that I am still "gaba patching" and still have PAWS. He said time is the greatest healer with this one but said in some cases Lyrica can help except it's addictive. Most importantly he's writing to my GP's so they know. I think validation is important and I'd recommend that if anyone else has available an addiction specialist, to see them.

That's great that you found someone who understands about benzo withdrawal and PAWS. The attitude I seem to get from medical professionals (as well as people in my personal life) is that most of what I'm experiencing is more my own anxiety rather than withdrawal. Validation would be nice.

Hello all;

I got lucky, as my well-meaning but un-informed doctor retired, and they assigned me to an addiction specialist.

That saved me !  About 3 weeks ago I thanked him for saving my life.

I am a couple months post jump, and am doing pretty good.

I used a lot of peripheral meds to assist with my taper, some recommended by my P-doc (the 2nd one).

I took Imipriamine (an old Tricyclic AD), Remeron (helped with sleep), Depakote (anti seizure),

Seroquel (waste of time !).

I just finished the Depakote taper, and

all I have left is 15mg Remeron at night. I'll deal with that in a couple weeks or so.

I've started some Vitamin supplements, the stress B mixtures that are common, with Inositol,

magnesium, the usual stuff.

Feels good to have a future again. I was pretty bad off.

Good luck all,

-Justaman

Hello Matt,

Doesn't it feel good to be validated?  I know I felt this way when I finally found a doctor who understood and supported me in a way others did not.  I'm glad you are doing pretty good and it looks like you are making good progress with the adjunct medication tapering.
