You are obviously calling out for help and that is totally understandable right now. It is hard enough dealing with the physical symptoms without having the emotional crap make everything worse. If you are thinking about things that are best not thought about too much, you should consider reaching out for  professional help because such a permanent solution to a temporary problem is not the way to go. In a few more weeks or even months you will most likely feel noticeably better and in time you will have fully recovered from your ordeal and be able to enjoy a happy and full life again.  :smitten:

Aloha is correct about this, just get through it the best you can. Aloha and I both were buddies going through our recovery at the same time. We both have mostly come out on the other side now. There were MANY times I didn't think I was going to make it at all. But I did, and you will too.

Hi Siggy!

Hey! I haven't the been on here much lately as I've been to busy. Hope you're doing well.  :)

siggy - so it seems you were a short term user - how long did it take for you to feel like you had gotten through the worst of things?

Originally? I started feeling better maybe around month 3 or 4, but wasn't feeling mostly normal until about month 5 or 6. I've had two MASSIVE setbacks from alcohol. One lasted 10 months and the next was about 4-1/2 months.

siggy - when you say set backs from alcohol - how much did you consume ?  I am only 48 days out - so not even thinking about it yet but people keep telling me - just have a glass of wine  - not people on this board-  meaning family or friends who don't understand or believe this is happening - i know alcohol works on the GABA receptors.  I just wonder if at some point i tried a glass of wine, a single glass, and had a bad reaction, would that be a lost day or two or could it cause weeks or months of loss.  i just can't see risking a major set back no matter how much i miss the taste of wine.  i can't have coffee either - my two favorite things.  i literally just drink water.  not even tea as each tea i tried initially only wired me even though they were caffeine free....

Drinking alcohol this early on would be a definite no. There's no way to tell how bad or how long it may effect you. It probably would make you briefly feel better, but afterwords most likely not. For a long time I avoided caffeine and refined sugar also. Now I can drink fully caffeinated coffee / tea with no problems. I did drink decaffeinated green tea for a long time just to change it up from drinking only water.

Thank you

Has anyone heard from HOPE02? I sent her pm  to check on her, and she was last online the 6th. I get worried :(

Billy,

I know what you mean. I too get worried when people stop posting. It is possible that some people find that being on this site hurts rather than helps them and it is possible that they may receive advice to stay away to avoid fixating on their problem too much. Often they come back after a little while and if they don't... we can only hope that they are okay and eventually enjoy a full recovery.

i think there are a few reasons why people stay away - sometimes people reach a point in their recovery when they feel that staying away is best, as being on the site reminds them too much of their pain and they may worry that the site may trigger them.. this is probs the main reason why i stay away for the most part. other people might be very well recovered and don't necessarily worry about being triggered but just want to get on with their life.. so yeah.. i guess when people stop posting it is not necessarily a bad thing tho it is easy for caring peops to jump to the worst conclusion. having said that i think if people are concerned about someone staying away then a caring pm couldn't hurt :)

I don't know hope02 - maybe she is staying away because she feels time out could help her.. but i think it is very sweet of you Billy to check on her. I hope she's OK too XOX

:)
