Was anyone else forced to quit benzos rapidly by doctor?

My psychiatrist insisted that I quit benzos in doing a 10 day taper from 4 mg. I tried that but 3 days after quitting completely I went into severe withdrawal all while not sleeping during the rapid taper. My primary doctor then gave me a prescription to do a 25 day taper starting at 1.5mg but I am still going to go into withdrawal when I get to less than 1mg. I'm just wondering if anyone else was forced off of benzos. I had been taking Xanax for 25 years followed by Klonopin for 2 years, so 27 years total. I'm terrified of going back into acute withdrawal.

I was. A psychiatrist sent me to a "detox doctor" who was very old and hard edged and mostly just worked on hardcore drug addicts. I listened because I was in a terrible place. He made me go off 2 mg of klonopin cold turkey and gave me a barbiturates. It was a terrifying nightmare. Looking back I should have tried to taper on my own or found another doctor.

Maybe right now I am in the same place I would have been if I tapered, but there's no way to know.

Ashton Manual says no one should withdrawal against their own will. I think that is true.

I only used short time. My doctor told me to just quit. No way, I could have withdrawal symptoms. Now, in my fourth month, I still have severe insomnia

I had doc's take my script multiple times until they saw me go into WD, I didn't know at the time that was what was going on though. After 10 years of being on Klonopin I had to rapid taper off 1mg over 46 days. I moved out of state no doctor in Texas would give me a script of it because of how awful a med it is. I'm finishing up my 5th month of being benzo free now. It's been really hard & I'm just now starting to have some relief because I've started taking supplements to balance out my neuro-transmitters. If you google Dr. Jennifer Leigh she has a site devoted to her benzo withdrawal journey, it has helped me so much. I pray for a speedy healing for you.

Hi tae. Whar supplements do you use?

I was tapered off Xanax in 5 days at a detox facility 16 months ago.  I am still going through windows and waves, experiencing anxiety, some akathasia and tinnitus with the shakes, tremors and heavy breathing.  Everything I've been reading tells me I still have a ways to go before I heal because of my long term use and rapid taper.
