Xanax Taper after 2 month usage

Hi Everyone.  Long story short, my Doc upped my Lexapro (10mg) for GAD and Panic Attacks 6 weeks ago.  During this time I have been taking .75 xanax daily.  I have been trying to taper the last few weeks.  I did 7 days at .625 and I am now on day 2 of .50.  I have been having a really hard time today.  Lots of anxiety and 1 minor panic attack.  I saw my pdoc again yesterday and he said I didn't have to taper so slow because It's only been 6 weeks with an average of .75 per day.  I also take 3mg of lunesta at night for sleep.  I usually only sleep for 4 hours and then the anxiety wakes me up.  He suggested a few more days at .50 and then a few at .25 and then jumping off.  To be honest I'm trying to do this as painless as possible.  I know I haven't been on that long but my anxiety is intense at times.  Any help, support or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
