Need help; 3mg of klonopin for 5 years

Hi

So as you see from my topic the situation I am in. I tried the Ashton manual with my dr. I needed to slow down the taper after stage 3 and she just put me right back on my old 3mg a day dose.

Then she called and told me about an inpatient rehab center near me that one of her other patients used to get off of benzos. I looked that place up and the max stay is 14 days. My full blown withdrawal doesn't start until at least 14 days off. She also said that they use medication to help. What kind of medication? Why can't I find any info on this?

Sincerely

Need help

Hello, Oneneedhelp. Welcome to Benzo Buddies! We're glad to have you here.

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles with tapering. You are not alone in finding Ashton's published taper rates to be too fast. Her rates are not written in stone and need to be adjusted to the individual.

I also feel I must caution you that nearly every report I have read of a person going to rehab has been a severely negative one. Please investigate this carefully before considering it. I suggest you read and ask questions on the following boards as a good starting place:

General Taper Plans

Withdrawal Support (during your taper)

Cold Turkey, Detox & Rapid Withdrawal

You can locate our other boards with many more resources from our home page: BenzoBuddies Community Forum.

You will find stickies in bold pinned at the top of the boards. These threads contain information that our members have found to be particularly helpful. Feel free to start your own thread on the relevant board and ask any questions you may have about withdrawal and recovery. Just click on the board name and then click New Topic.

Finally, I'd like to ask you to read the stickies on our Community Policies & Documents and to Add a signature . Doing these two things will help you to connect with our community.

Best wishes on your journey to health and healing,

I tried two "detoxes" and nearly died (and subsequently had to reinstate once I got home).  A slow taper where you are in control is best.  I learned this the hard way.
