Excruciating pain in left hip from top to bottom and need some relief....I have heard the Flexeril stops the muscles from spasming but doesn't bind with the Gaba Receptors.....help!

I've been taking it for a couple weeks for back pain. It's not caused any problems and makes me sleep like a log. Back pain is subsiding so will stop taking it again soon.

I have taken it through most of my taper with no problems being on or off of it.

Flexaril is good in my opinion. It's a good muscle relaxer and as has been said, it does make me sleepy which is good in withdrawal because insomnia is my worst remaining symptom.

I had to use a muscle relaxer also.  I had terrible muscle spasms and jaw tightness.

Baclofen is another good choice. It works on GABA b receptors. It can give some relief to overall Benzo w/d symptoms and is a good muscle relaxer.

Neither drug will slow benzo healing, but they can give some relief to all the crap that happens to us in w/d.

Those muscle relaxers made me very depressed.  Watch closely for that.  I take dicyclomine for IBS.  It's a smooth muscle relaxer & I noticed it helped with pain.  Tiger balm patches are great too for my hip when it flares up.

Thanks so much everyone for your support and advice....I actually went to see a doctor Saturday as the pain was so bad and she prescribed Ibuprofen which has helped with the pain but now I have two legs hurting and read that Ibuprofen binds with the Gaba Receptors and can make symptoms worse....she also told me to take the Flexaril which I will do tonight.....I gather it makes you very drowsy and can continue into the next day, so I am afraid to drive when drowsy....this is all such a balancing act.  My best to everyone in their healing.......Spazzie  :)

I was worried about the next day drowsiness but I haven't noticed any problems really. As long as you get a full night sleep I think you'll be ok. Best to try on the weekend maybe first.

When I was detoxed the gave us Flexeril in the hospital and for a few weeks after. I took it for about three or four weeks.  It helped a lot and I had no problems with it.

It helped with sleep too.

Thank you JENNYK and KLUNGO that is reassuring.
