Yes, I have this.  I realize I forget to breathe like it's not automatic anymore.

Try doing some breathing exercises.  I have an appointment on my phone that does guided breathing exercises.  After 5 minutes, I feel so much better and it helps your breathing regulate even after you finish.  The one I use is called Peaceful Breathing.

This was one of the major disturbing symptoms I started experiencing right off the bat in withdrawal. It has gotten better over time and now I rarely get it.

It's anxiety related.  You can tend to hold your breath or have shallow breathing as a result of anxiety.  I like guided meditation for deep breathing.  Try the Calm app.  It's helped me a lot.  Also try to get distracted.  Try shopping, see a movie if you can, clean the kitchen.  I felt short of breath for months.  I would tell my husband "I can't breathe" all the time.  This symptom is better.  I'm at 9 months.
