Increased pain sensitivity due to withdrawal?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone else experienced increased pain sensitivity during withdrawal? I ask this after taking a "rescue dose" this morning and finding my back pain easing up. It got worse as I went to zero on clonazepam but I did not initially associate it with my withdrawal. I thought it was a separate issue but feeling enough relief after my rescue dose to think that I'm just experiencing increased pain sensitivity.

I've had joint pain on and off with no rhyme or reason. I've read it's withdrawal.

withdrawal has a tendency of kicking up old injuries, especially if they are still affecting you.  Years ago I had 2 abdominal surgeries that haven't bothers me for a few years.  While in withdrawal, I was getting pain as bad as it was right after surgery.  I also experienced pain in the two bones i broke years ago - my foot and my toe.  Neither of these have bothered me in a year, then started throbbing again during withdrawal.

That being said, if you back problem was a muscle issue, this could last a while.  Benzos are powerful muscle relaxers, so it is very common for muscles to tense and spasm when tapering off benzos and while in withdrawal.
