I've been on Klonopin for about 15 years at a dosage of 1mg twice a day. I recently saw a psychiatrist that adviced me to get off the Kolonpin but to take it very slowly. I started about 3 weeks ago and I am now down to 1 and a 1/4 pills a day or 1.25mg/day. My psych prescribed Trazodone to help take the edge off and help with my taper. So far so good, the only side effects so far are a bit of heightened anxiety and night sweats. Hasn't been bad so far but I know the worst is ahead. I ask for help from those of you who have been where I am. Thx in advance for your help, good luck and God Bless!

Hi Jorge007  Welcome to Benzobuddies

We are glad that you have found our community. The information and support that you get here is very important whilst going through this process.  Withdrawal  is tough and it can be a very challenging time, I personally found that being among those who understand makes it a little easier.

It sounds like you are tapering fast, tapering off slowly is the safest and best way to withdraw.  I suggest that you read Professor Ashton's Manual  It will explain this in further detail.  The general tapering guidelines are to cut the daily dose by between 5% and 10% every 10 - 14 days. You can alter the schedule according to how you are feeling.  The aim is to keep any withdrawal symptoms manageable.

We have a great community here of knowledgeable and friendly people who understand this process.  They will be willing to share their experience with you.  Feel free to ask questions so that members can respond
