Hello,

All throughout withdrawal I had horrible, looping thoughts and finally some childhood trauma bubbled up from my subconscious that I didn't realize I had experienced.Things had settled down and then several months ago I started trying to process the trauma with my therapist and I have been completely destabilized to the point I had a crisis team called on me to take me to the ER. I was diagnosed with PTSD and DID (dissociative identity disorder). The flashbacks, nightmares, body memories, and intrusive thoughts are horrible. I also feel like I'm more than one person because everything that has happened in my life could not possible have happened to one person. I'm trying to get some proper treatment. Could this be worse right now because I'm still healing from benzos? I'm scared and want this to stop. Thanks.

Hi,

I'm so sorry you're going through this.  Benzo withdrawal can exacerbate and even mimic mental disorders.  Many of us experience this, and these symptoms usually get better once we heal.

Thanks. I know these are legitimate conditions because they go back way before benzos, it is just frustrating I don't think they would be this out of control right now if not for w/d. Thanks again.

Does PTSD cause severe anxiety? How do I know I'm withdrawing and don't have this?

Yes, PTSD causes severe anxiety. So does withdrawal. If you have experienced trauma PTSD could be a part of things.

I wonder if this is what is causing all my symptoms, I always feel so worn out and exausted I hurt all the time i cry alot idk what the hell is going on anymore

It might be worth seeking support from a therapist. They can help sort out emotions and with anxiety. I don't know how I'd survive without therapy.

ptsd wont give you the physical symptoms would it?

I'm so sorry to read this. I really struggled with looping thoughts, intrusive thoughts, and flashbacks to childhood issues during withdrawal. It would give me cold sweats. It has really improved every week but I do still struggle with it in a way I never struggled before. Hang in there.

Nhbuck28, correct the physical symptoms would be from withdrawal.

Jessica0905, thanks for sharing your experience. Hang in there too. I hope it continues to get better for you.
