I know this sounds pathetic but I have no home support group. I feel very alone as nobody understands what I am going through.

 

This really hurts.

Hi Warrior,

 

It doesn't sound pathetic at all - so many of us have found ourselves without the support of family or friends once we found ourselves on the runaway train of benzo withdrawal.

 

It's hard to accept at first, but once we realize that it's very difficult for others to understand what a brutal experience this is, it begins to be easier not to take it personally, but to instead turn to support from fellow benzo travelers. Even though I have very close family, this was far more than they could comprehend or manage, but BB was my lifesaver during those times of despair.

You're not alone and you're certainly not pathetic, Warrior. I too am alone in this minus 1 person, but they don't understand. Please know that this forum will always be there for you during your journey. Post as many times and as many things as you need to get through this. The people on BB are just amazing and will give you great advice and provide support and comfort when you're scared, sick or whatever the case may be. Please don't give up the benzo fight and hang in there!! We'll be here for you the whole time.

Here's the $64,000 question.  Why aren't there more benzo support groups in every metro area of the US and UK?

 

This is a serious epidemic and there should be more face to face support.

I too am alone in this journey, which is why I come here. You all are the only ones who understand. I'm so glad I found this forum.

It's easy to feel alone in this mess.  Try explaining half the symptoms we have to people who do not understand.  They automatically think you took the drugs as a recreation. They don't believe that a doctor would even prescribe something with those side effects.

 

Before I walked through this hell I would have NEVER believed someone who told me of such symptoms.  That's why this place is a great resource to collaborate with others and share experiences.  Even those of us with some type of support group, I don't think they can fully understand or help in the way that those on here can.  I'm sure my support group is sick of hearing me talk about these insane symptoms on a bi-daily basis.  Feel free to reach out anytime.
