I've never felt so much anxiety in my life, I can't stay calm and think straight, I dropped my dose too quickly and now it's hell on earth, I can barely drink water, I'm in fight or flight mode all day! reading stuff on my phone feels like my brain is burning, I'm scared that this is something else than withdrawal, I woke up at night and felt like waves in my head then I was paralyzed and my abdomen had a convulsion, I don't remember anything after that, now I'm holding on the same dose but I don't feel better, idk if my benzo has become toxic or what, can't longer connect with my personality, I've never been in this state during my taper, please help, this is too unbearable!

Sucks, doesn't it!

I'm sorry that you're suffering.  I know how hard it is.

The only thing that helped me at all was to do some long moderately cardio exercise.  I rode my bike 2100 miles the year of my withdrawal (almost every day).  Also did some workouts at a local gym.  During the riding or gym work, I'd be concentrating on what I was doing which got my mind off of the anxiety a bit.  Afterwards, I was tired which also held down the anxiety a little bit.  You're correct that you're in a fight or flight stasis.  Let your body do what it needs to do - release that energy.

It looks like you started having troubles a couple of times during your taper and did a moderate up-dose.  It's better to not do a lot of that.  Looks like you also tried to c/t.  I did that - it wasn't pleasant.  A lot of people hit a wall or two during their taper.  This is when 2 Timothy 1:7 needs to be more than a mere 'personal text'.  Even in the throes of anxiety, you can use your power to get through the day.  Perhaps you can even find a refuge of relative calm in your mind, but it takes discipline and practice.  In any case, each day that you can stick to a reasonable taper without bringing in new drugs brings you closer to the destination you have chosen.  Sometimes, that knowledge along with your god-given power is all you get to survive the day.

Hang in there.

I lost it like you did 3 weeks ago. I can't tell you if this is the right thing to do but I realized I cut back too fast. I reinstated a dose of the medicine I was tapering Xanax to stabilized myself. I then forgot about tapering altogether until I was stable again. Then I cut back a smaller amount. But forgetting about cutting back until I gained my confidence back worked for me!

Sounds liks good advice from the other respondents.  Modifying your taper is better tahn setting yourself up for failure.  Exercise is great, even if onky mardhing in place for 10 minutes a few times per day. Distraction-I liks downloadabke audiobooks which in the US can be gotten free crom libraries.Good luck-- you will get through this.  You look young and once you recovcer will be a stronger psreson for it. You have your whole life ahead of you and canmake it great!

Yes! Exercise and getting outside and doing things (even while i was having non-stop anxiety/panic) was a HUGE help for me and once I started doing that, I saw HUGE improvements and more windows! Get outside, try and go for a walk, or run or bike. Sometimes I could only make it around the block before I was breathless and dizzy. The more I did it, the more I improved!
