Rivotril (Clonazepam) advice needed

Recommended Posts

Currently on Rivotril  (=Klonopin) for insomnia. Insomnia caused by Lyme/ME-CFS.

Insomnia for 1,5 years now. Tried different short acting benzos but quit each one after couple of weeks because of tolerance building quickly.

For 7 weeks now I have been on 1MG (10 drops) of Rivotril. (Liquid form of Klonopin) I take it 1 hour before bedtime.

It worked wonders for my insomnia for the first two weeks.

Than gradually sleep got worse again, both in quality and quantity.

So it seems to me tolerance is building (too) quickly.

So I want to start tapering before I get into more trouble.

I do not want to increase my dosage.

I read quite some horror stories about Klonopin withdrawel,

but I want to get off this stuff as fast as possible.

As I take liquid form I can taper in steps of 0,1 MG that should be more convenient than splitting pills right?

What would a wise tapering schedule?

Hello Mattie72   Welcome to BenzoBuddies!.

We are glad you joined us, I cant help you with a tapering schedule, I did a dry cut from diazepam. I am sure you will get some sound advice on the forum.  We have a great bunch of people here, our members have been through all aspects of benzodiazepine use and withdrawal, and will share their experiences with you.

The best way to minimize withdrawal symptoms is a slow taper.  It is suggested to taper no more than 5-10% every 10-14 days. This can be adjusted based on how you feel. he aim is to keep symptoms manageable.

I would suggest that you read the Ashton Manual, an excellent resource about these types of drugs and how to withdraw. It was written by an expert in the field.

I'll leave you a few links:
