I am really struggling with my taper. The DR/DP is there constantly and only eases at night. Am not getting any windows at all.. is this normal? Would an easing of symptoms at night be considered a window?

My other symptoms include anxiety, depression, cog fog, itchy skin, grinding teeth, tinnitus, and a whole tonne of others.

Some encouragement would go a long way..

Thanks in advance

Hello there Rory,

You are making some awesome progress tapering your Valium.

Is there any way you can slow it down just a bit?

I think if you go a little slower some of your symptoms might ease up. The main goal is to do this taper as symptom free as possible while moving forward.

I've been doing yard work for the last 2 hours and the heat index here is 95 in the shade. My ears are screaming right now but I know it's temporary like many of your symptoms and will let up!!

Hope you have a better evening!!

Hi Pitchman,

Those dates are my previous cuts not future ones.. I get what you're saying though. I have held longer on some doses.. at the end of the day it's a balance between taking it slowly and being on them.forever.

Cheers

Hey Rory,

Congrats on your diazepam taper

Grinding teeth and cog fog is an sx of olanzapine. Anxiety and depression may be an sx of Prozac. You're on a very high dose. It also has to do with taper. Probably even more with taper.

Yes, if you tolerate such a high amount of olanzapine, you can safely get to 0 mg Valium. So just patiently taper, according to your schedule.

The question is whether you and pdoc plan to decrease olanzapine and fluoxetine once you're stabilized without benzos. But try not to think about it now. V taper is the most important, since you've almost beaten the enemy. You shouldn't do any changes to those two meds as long as you haven't gotten rid of Valium. IMO. But you and your pdoc know best.

It may take you up to a year to stabilize without benzos, but you've been doing GREAT so far.

Short-term discomfort, long-term gratification. Only your goal counts. As Aristotle put it in his teleology. "Telos" is a Greek term for "goal". To get benzos out of your system. You can do it.

Take care,

Estee
