Hi Buddies,

How are people dealing with tinnitus?  Although most of my sxs are manageable -- at this point -- the tinnitus is getting worse, much worse.

I know I had tinnitus while still on Xanax before I even thought of withdrawing, didn't realize that it was a symptom of my interdose w/d.  H

How are folks dealing with this symptom?

Is it one that waxes and wanes like the others?  It seems like it may be one of the last to go, but wondering how others are doing...

Hope you're all having a good day.....

I still have it after a year off, but it has gotten better.

At around six months off it got horrible in my left ear, with all these pops, clicks and cricket chirps. The crickets stuck around for months and then suddenly left (without paying a penny of rent, I might add), but then they came back a few days ago. It's just baffling.

One thing I did notice was that I took aspirin for a few days and a higher pitched whining started, but that went away a few days after I stopped taking it.

I'm sure the tinnitus will fall away at some point, but meanwhile I keep an air cleaner running that helps neutralize the sound.

Those of you with tinnitus, do you also have hearing loss in that ear(s) as well?  I have hearing loss and tinnitus in my left ear and have for a long time and I wonder if it's from my long use of benzos and if might return in the future once I'm off them for a length of time.

Sometimes I can't believe how loud it can get. Mien started in October 2015.

The doctor that prescribes my Klonopin said, "Tapering off of Klonopin does not cause tinnitus. I have never had a patient that I have tapered off of Klonopin EVER mention having tinnitus."

OK Doc, you sit right there back in the dark ages with the rest of the quacks.

I think one of the things that we are up against is people that have 'some' tinnitus can't experience what we are going through... They can't be in our heads.

I'm fortunate to have a neurologist that understands that tinnitus can be from a benzo taper. At least she was willing to give medications such as gabapentin a chance. It didn't help but at least I didn't come away feeling like I wasn't believed.

Thanks everyone for this replies!  i don't have crickets in my ears --  yet LOL -- but sort of a model bi-plane type noise.

It's always helpful to know there are others with sxs, and that it comes and goes.

I guess the big thing is that distraction works for these chronic things -- and others!  But on these summer nights it would be great to have some quiet...don't you think????

I'm 31 months out and it's my single renaming symptom. It absolutely rages and never diminishes. It is really depressing and I haven't found anything that helps. Come on time!!!

Sixty- I still have loud tinnitus at 14 months- primarily in my left ear. It's a loud high pitched buzzing. The hearing in my left ear is MUCH worse- have to hold the phone to my right ear. I find the tinnitus gets worse when I am under stress or in a wave.

Welp it looks like this is something that we are going to have to learn to deal with.... sigh.  I'm all for bringing back ear trumpets!

And thanks for all the replies.... Funny how it's a symptom that goes away as one of the last.

I guess the ear is super sensitive and those little hearing hairs are stressed to the max......

I'll try to be patient with this one too!  symptoms that is....LOL!

Hey suffering,

I've had T since day one of that first cut...but it's been fairly mild for the past 6 months (it screamed the first year) and I usually only notice it in the quiet times - when going to sleep or waking.  Now it does come on louder periodically, but not often.  It's been relatively low lately.  I do expect to have it for the rest of my life but am hoping it stays low.  I guess that's all we can do - hope for the best. :smitten:

It's one symptoms I won't take too much into account as I deal with cuts.
