Is Klonopin worse than Valium?
Posted

Since nobody is answering i think i need to clarify my question:

Is Klonopin harder to taper from than valium ?

Posted

Hi Miriedl:

Just like we all heal differently, we all have different things that help alleviate the terrible withdrawal symptoms, we all have different opinions about benzo withdrawal, etc, etc.

You will probably get many different opinions (just that, an opinion) on this question.  I tapered from Valium and it took me 1 year to get off 10-15mg daily total dose and that is a small amount based on some other folks usage.  I don't have experience with multi benzo withdrawal but you should decide if you want to try a crossover.  Some BBs say it's easier to cut Valium.  That may be true.  I cut my 2mg pills eventually into 4ths and it worked well for dosage cuts. But I still went through hell.

Any way you slice it, Val withdrawal was a bitch.  Those symptoms compared very similarly with many of the other benzos that folks used during withdrawal.  I'm not sure why you want to change but I don't think anyone could answer you about your OWN biological reactions to Klonopin being easier/harder than Valium for withdrawal.

Good luck!

"Been on valium for at least 15 years.

Tapered from 5 to 2.5 to 1.25 and now three weeks on zero."

Given your history (from your siggy), why do you even want to screw around with another benzo? ::)

Cant really answer for you but i was on klonopin and got down to around .25mg and found it very tough, its never easy but i did a good bit of research and it put me a bit more at ease to switch to valium based on the ashton manual.

Keep in mind that switching is quite hard for a week or so youll be all over the place until you crossover.

I switched to 5mg valium you dont want to updose so make sure that you get the valium equivalent.

Also dont jump straight from klonopin to valium i introduced small amounts of valium and took them with the klonopin and gradually decreased my klonopin and increased my valium until i reached 5mg of just valium.

Either way its whatever works best for you.
