Does anyone have problems when eyes are shut?

Hi all. I get very poor sleep when I do sleep at all but the worst part about sleeping is when I shut my eyes. When I shut my eyes my thoughts race a lot faster than they already do and I get this weird feeling sometimes like I'm falling and I have to open my eyes to stop it. Like I feel like I rolled off a cliff. Also sometimes right when I start to fall asleep I catch myself and wake up real fast in a panic. It's like as soon as my brain starts to shutdown for sleep something else kicks in and wakes me up. Sometimes I'll even have a dream but when I look at the clock only a minute has passed. It's very scary because I usually wake in a state of panic with my heart racing and I'm more confused than I already am. Anybody experience any of this? It seems to happen more if I try to take a nap or force sleep.

Thanks for reading.

Hi N2turbo. Isn't it scary? I have so many crappy symptoms but this one may be the worst.  For some reason I know it's going to happen but I still try to force a nap. I never learn my lesson. A guy on another site had something similar . He called it sleep terrors. I used to love sleeping . Now I don't get much and it's very poor sleep. I never feel rested.

Thanks for your response.

You have that too?! I thought I was the only one.

For me its not so much when I fall asleep  (if I do). When I do fall asleep I start to talk half sleeping, my husband doesn't understand a word of it.

When I wake up. Pure terror, panic. I get up and walk around a bit, back to bed and always have this feeling of falling and have to open my eyes.

Then the morning anxiety, adrenalin rushes kicks in.

Used to love taking a nap. Now Im afraid of it. It's so terrifying waking up.

I told my therapist about this, of course she had never heard of someone experience what I'm having 😞

Now I'm afraid of going to sleep, cause I know how I will feel when waking up

Yep Me2. It sucks. I used to love sleeping. Now i'm scared of it. Even when I do sleep is doesn't feel like I did. I don't know if I talk when it happens. I'm single so no one would notice if I did. Sorry you have this to. My doctor also has no idea what i'm talking about. You would think a neurologist would. I think she thinks i'm crazy or imagining my symptoms so I don't mention them anymore. Thanks for your response.

This going to sound strange, started taking luna, from amazon. And it stopped for me at night, now I don't even remember dreams. I bought it just hoping to get to sleep, it wont put me to sleep. But when you fall asleep it keeps you a sleep. Your so droggy it helps with the anxiety.  You might give it a try its not expensive. I waking with no anxiety.

I'm gonna give it a try. I was taking unisom but I don't think it's a good idea to mix other sedating drugs in withdrawal. Sometimes it didn't do anything.

Thanks for helping.

Yes Luna, I think Estee talked about that in another thread.

Have to look it up if we have it here in Sweden.

It's not a narcotic drug, so it wouldn't be a crime if I bought it on amazon.
